SEI's Introduction to Capability Maturity Model® Integration
(CMMI®) The
course describes the fundamentals of using models for improving
organizational processes, the benefits of process improvement, and
interprets the CMMI® in the context of implementation. |
This 3-day course introduces participants to the fundamental
principles, structure, and content of the CMMI®,
including the following topics:
- Fundamentals of process improvement
- Overview of the CMMI® models
- Overview of the CMMI® staged and continuous
representations
- Process Areas covering Product Engineering, Project
Management, Process Management, and Support
- Interpreting and applying the CMMI®

Who Should Attend
- Systems or Software Engineering Process Group members who
are actively involved in process improvement.
- Other managers and practitioners who are involved in using
or improving processes.
- Individuals who are planning to participate on an Appraisal
team.
- Individuals who are planning to become SEI-authorized Lead
Appraisers in the Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for
Process Improvement (SCAMPI) method.
Course Materials
Participants will receive the CMMI® student course notebook,
which includes a copy of the presentation material. They will also
receive a Hardbound copy of “CMMI® Guidelines for Process
Integration and Product Improvement” by Mary Beth Chrissis, Mike
Konrad and Sandy Shrum. Additionally, a SEI certificate will be
provided upon completion of the course. College Educational Units
are also available.
Course Format
The course is composed of lectures, class exercises, and
opportunities for participants to be actively involved through
case studies, questions, and discussions.
